Since i is for ice cream, we have done non-stop food-related letter crafts. Completely unintentional and I do have a non-food related craft lined up for the letter O, but today I’m sharing this super cute and easy N is for Noodle Kindergarten Letter N Craft.
Using uncooked pasta in a kindergarten classroom is such a classic and affordable idea.
We’ve used noodles to explore the lifecycle of a butterfly, thread onto necklaces for sweet Mother’s Day gifts, and they make great sensory bin fillers. I always have a few cheap (and giant) bags of pasta in my sensory bin making kit so for this craft I just grabbed a few handfuls of the different shapes and types of noodles that I already had to allow the kids a bit of variety and personalization in their noodle crafts.
First, gather your materials:
Yup! That’s it – super simple list of materials… although I think it could stand to add a bit of glitter!
Using the scissors, cut lower and uppercase letter N/n for each of your children.
Set out the noodles, paint, and glue in whatever way makes the most sense for your group. I just set out a big tray with all of the pasta and let the kids use their fine motor muscles to pick up each piece and place it on their craft tray.
Encourage the kids to paint their noodles however they’d like and let them dry for about 15 minutes. (It really doesn’t take long for them to dry.) By the time the kids help clean up the paint, wash their hands, and maybe do a quick noodle song and dance (the Wiggles’ Hot Potato is a favorite around here) they are ready to proceed with the second step of the craft.
Have the children glue the pasta down to the letters however they think looks best. They may have some painted pasta leftover, which again is great for making jewelry or adding to a sensory bin.
Our N is for Noodle Letter N Craft was an unexpected sensory delight and they all turned out so cute and unique.
