12 Months of Sensory Bin Activities

Sensory bin activities are always a great addition to any classroom! You can use roll-away storage bins or if you have a classic classroom “sand table,” they are great for holding a variety of sensory bins. It’s a great self-contained activity for children to visit on their own accord for a bit of sensory stimulation.

For this collection, we included a couple “holiday” bins (Easter and Christmas, specifically). These can easily be made more neutral if you don’t celebrate holidays within your classroom. Substitute the Easter eggs in our Rainbow Egg Bin with any manipulative with two parts that fit into each other. Or simply remove the Christmas trees, fake mini-presents, and ornaments used in our Christmas Word Building Bin. The rest is “winter-y” enough that it can be left as-is.

Factors to consider when making your bins for a classroom setting include allergies and cultural sensitivities. Also, your budget and tolerance for messes. Check out even more of our helpful tips for using sensory bins in the classroom, including a list of our favorite sensory bin fillers!
