We had to follow up our J is for Jellybean kindergarten letter craft with another fun candy-inspired addition to our letter series for the letter L craft. Here’s a lovely L is for Lollipop Craft.

This was a quick and easy craft which is great when you have a few non-crafters in your group. While I think all of the kids benefit from these hands-on letter crafts and we do have a few that are more time-consuming (allowing the children to spend more time in familiarity with the letters) it’s nice to have these options for busy days or when we have other activities we want to do in conjunction with the letter craft.

For L is for Lollipop we also spent about 20 minutes learning “the Lollipop Song” by the Chordettes which then led to everyone wanting to learn how to make a “popping” noise with their mouths!

Letter L Craft – L is for Lollipop Craft

First, gather your materials:

Using the scissors, prepare the shapes needed for making your lollipop letter craft – each child will need:

  • 1 capital letter L
  • 1 lower case letter l

Provide the children with their cardstock letters, pom poms, bingo dabbers, and glue sticks and let them get to work!

I originally intended to provide the cake pop sticks for an extra 3D touch, but I like the look of these letters with marker-made sticks.

The kids had fun choosing whether to use pom poms or bingo dabbers – both of which offer fine motor benefits and resulted in equally cute crafts.

The kids simply made the lolli-candy part of their lollipop with either the pom poms or the bingo dabber and then added on a lollipop stick with the markers.

This was great for practicing hand-eye coordination and writing precision with the placement of the sticks in relation to the circles.

Our L is for Lollipop Letter L Craft is a cute and easy craft that the kids were super excited to make – and I like that there is the option of doing a “flat” craft with the bingo dabbers or a 3D version with pom poms (and lollipop sticks if you’re so inclined).

Also, I have a fun kid-made dipped marshmallows activity that would be really fun for a safe alternative to making your own lollipops.
