The next letter we’re doing in our Kindergarten Letter Craft series is the lowercase letter H craft, H is for Hat. We had previously done a capital H is for House craft which in retrospect could be used to make a lower-case h “house” with a really tall chimney, but you can never have too many letter crafts!
A lot of the supplies for this craft are left over from the Jasmine Tank Tops that the kids made at Miss G’s Aladdin-themed birthday party this past summer. I’m a big advocate for using what you already have on hand and taking creative liberties with the crafts you choose to make.
My kids were excited for the chance at another collage-style letter craft – both my crafty and non-crafty kids like collage art because they have a lot more freedom, especially my perfectionists who sometimes avoid doing prescriptive crafts if they think they will get them wrong.
Letter H Craft – h is for hat Craft
First, gather your materials:
- neutral-colored construction paper
- glitter glue
- scissors (for the parent or adult)
- safety scissors for cutting ribbon, optional
- ribbon, feathers, jewels – any embellishment that would make for a fabulous hat!
Using the scissors, cut at least one “h” letter shape for each child.
Place the materials out in the way that makes the most sense for your group (organized in little bowls, pre-divided up into their work stations, etc) and encourage them to “decorate their hats!”
As a bonus, this craft also works well for the capital letter H.
Our h is for Hat Letter h Craft is a fun open-ended craft perfect for any time of year and for using up any leftover bits of craft supplies that you may have on hand.
