Fall Leaf Letter Clip Cards

One of our favorite songs in my classroom is about leaves falling to the ground in the fall.  The free printable leaf letter clip cards are the perfect combination of alphabet skills and fine motor practice.

Print the set of clip cards from the file below.  Easily cut the cards apart on the gray dotted lines. Be careful not to cut the black lines that separate the letter choices.

Add the clip cards to a basket or tray along with a set of clothespins.  My preschoolers like to have one clothespin for each clip card, so I always make sure there are at least 26 to choose from.

Squeezing each clothespin takes lots of work for little hands, which is why the practice is important.

If the clothespins add frustration to the letter matching activity, consider using dry erase markers to circle the answer or fall mini erasers to mark the answer on the cards.

Each card has an uppercase letter on a fall-colored leaf.  Encourage your little learners to identify the name of the letter.

If letter recognition has been mastered, practice letter sounds.  After the letter has been identified, look through the 3 lowercase letter choices to find the correct match.

Use the clothespin to clip the match!

What I love about clip cards is that you can make them self-correcting.  Add a sticker to the back of the correct answer on the card.

Each time the clothespin is clipped, you can turn the card around to see if the clothespin is on the sticker.  Writing the correct answer in pencil on the back also works!
