With my kids dressing up like royals almost every day, here is our letter K craft, K is for King for our letter crafts series.
With Mardi Gras coming up, this is a fun craft to make with the kids using the colors of the holiday – but it’s really an evergreen craft fit for a… king-in-training.
We had an assortment of jewels left over from Miss G’s Princess Jasmine birthday party (we made our own Jasmine tank tops and Princess Jasmine bangles) and some gold duck tape already on hand… because what’s the point in being a household of girls if you buy the boring duck tape?
This is a great craft for using up “bits and pieces” – grab the pretty and shiny leftovers in your craft bins and set them out with this craft.
Letter K Craft – K is for King Craft
First, gather your materials:
- gold or bright yellow card stock
- glue sticks
- scissors (for the teacher/parent)
- jewels, sequins, gold duck tape, washi tape
Using the scissors, cut a letter K (or k) for each child and a few crowns out of the duck tape.
I filled a couple craft bowls with all of the treasures for decorating, set out the glue sticks, handed each child a letter K and they set to decorating!
This was the perfect easy letter craft for my crew – they love making things pretty and anything royal is definitely a winner!
Picking up the jewels, picking the backing off of the duck tape, and manipulating the tiny treasures was a great built-in fine motor challenge that had enough of a reward that it kept my kids interested and engaged for almost half an hour!
These letters can get pretty heavy with all of the jewels added so when I felt a letter was getting overloaded with bling, I offered the child a lowercase k to switch to decorating.
Our K is for Kings Letter Crafts are going to look smashing alongside their queenly counterparts – what would your kids love to decorate for their letter k craft?
