Bees and Bugs Pre-Writing Practice

These pre-writing practice printables are a fun, seasonal way to strengthen very important writing skills. Those include fine motor skills, pencil control, and directionality – just to name a few.

Young students should be exposed to practicing these skills regularly. I like to also use multi-sensory methods by using sensory writing trays or writing in play dough.

These Bees and Bugs Pre-Writing Practice printables include both a color and a black & white version.

How to Use the Pre-Writing Practice Printables

These Bees and Bugs Pre-Writing Practice printables include both a color and a black & white version.

For repeated use, just print the color version and laminate and you are all set to go! The black & white version is fun for students to color themselves.

Simply download and print! Grab some markers or crayons and your students are all set to go!

A helpful idea, if you do not have a laminator is to create a “flip file.” Easily make a flip file by using binders filled with 3-hole plastic sleeves. Just slip the pre-writing printables into the plastic sleeves and give each student a dry-erase marker. In doing so, the writing line can easily be erased and the printables can be used over and over again.

Add all your pre-writing practice printables into the flip file binders. Create a fip file for each student. The pages can be used multiple times and stored easily too!

Later, you can add letter formation printables to the flip file in a progressive manner. These files come in handy if you need to fill a few quiet minutes in your school day.

This pre-writing practice activity strengthens fine motor skills, pencil control, and directionality.
