Naturally, a K is for King Letter Craft needs his Q is for Queen Letter Craft for our Letter Q craft. They make quite the majestic pair in our Kindergarten Letter Crafts series!
My girls don’t go a day without donning a princess, queen or chief outfit (the latter is thanks to Moana) so it felt like a perfect fit to decorate our letter q crafts as regally as possible.
We had an assortment of jewels left over from making Princess Jasmine bangles and some gold duck tape from our Glitter & Gold table setting – this is a great craft for using up “bits and pieces” – grab the pretty and shiny leftovers in your craft bins and set them out with this craft.
Letter Q craft – Q is for Queen Craft
First, gather your materials:
- cardstock – any color
- glue sticks
- scissors (for the teacher/parent)
- jewels, sequins, gold duck tape, washi tape
Using the scissors, cut a letter Q (or q) for each child and a few crowns out of the duck tape.
I filled a couple craft bowls with all of the treasures for decorating, set out the glue sticks, handed each child a letter Q and they set to decorating!
Let the kids set to work decorating their queens to their hearts’ content. The more they decorate, the more they are familiarizing themselves with Q’s peculiar shape – and you can always have a discussion of other q-words and practice that unique q-sound as you are crafting.
If you think the kids are adding a few too many adornments to their card stock, give them a lower case q to pair with their upper case Q – or just grab them some card stock to make their own queen’s crown!
Our Q is for Queen Letter Q Craft is a gorgeous addition to our Letter Series and will give that flashy K is for King craft a run for his money!
